Game 94: Candelario & Ruiz Homer in Wrigley Win

The Nats topped the Cubs 7-5 to begin their three game series at Wrigley Field. Mark (From Chicago) & Al examine Jeimer Candelario's immediate impact in his return to the lineup by homering right away. Candelario had missed action over the weekend due to a bone bruise in his thumb.

(07:40) Keibert Ruiz was picked off, but made up for it with a 2 run shot in the 7th for a 7-3 lead. Ruiz played nice defense on Monday night, including some crucial picks on low pitches in the 9th by Kyle Finnegan.

(10:15) Stone Garrett made his presence felt in the lineup as he collected 3 hits including a double that Cody Bellinger lost in the Friendly Confines. Garrett is slugging .552 in July despite sharing time in LF.

(22:10) MacKenzie Gore's stat line does not convey how he really pitched on Monday as he gave up a pair of 2 run HRs in his final frames. Gore lasted until the 7th, which was crucial given how limited the bullpen is during Hunter Harvey's trip to the IL (elbow strain).

(38:00) Hear Ben McDonald's scouting report of Dylan Crews. This full interview is available in our Game 88 recap.
